Our "People of PSG” series is an opportunity for friends of the Public Safety Group to get to know the people behind the products and services you know and love. Each article will feature an interview with a PSG team member and will provide insight into their role, why they choose to work for PSG, and some fun facts about the team member. You won’t want to miss this series!
Today, we had the chance to chat with Lori DeGeorge.
Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
I was born in St. Louis and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I primarily studied journalism, public relations, and sociology. I met my husband John at OSU, and we just celebrated our 32nd anniversary. We ended up staying in Stillwater and raising our two kids, Christopher and Jamie. Our children are now grown, and they both live in the Portland, Oregon area. We are loving the fact that we just became grandparents to Benjamin.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I’ve always had a great love for travel, and I think it is so important to interact as much as possible with locals and the culture of the area you are visiting. That applies to my work travel as a Field Account Executive as well. While we can be effective speaking with our instructors over the phone, it is the best overall experience to meet them during our in-person visits. Our conversations are able to go beyond their programs, and we connect on a more personal level. There is great pride when they have a chance to show me around their programs and academies. That is truly the best part of my job — plus eating locally, because that is my thing.
What's something you've done that most people haven't done?
I hiked for a week with my father and my son on the Havasupai trail in the Grand Canyon. It was made up of unforgettable bonding moments and achieving milestones that I never thought I would be able to do.
Outside of work, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
My husband and I love to ride bikes and travel to National Parks.
If you could live anywhere, and take everything that you love with you, where would you choose to live and why?
I used to think I’d love to live anywhere in the world, but now I think it’s Portland. Everyone who we love the most in the world lives there now.
What’s the best thing about the city you live in?
It’s the perfect college town for sports, tailgating, and meeting up with friends. We pretty much have everything we need here, and we are only an hour away from Oklahoma City or Tulsa for a quick getaway and good restaurants.
Stay tuned for the next "People of PSG" feature!
