This Memorial Day weekend, Jones & Bartlett Learning Public Safety Group team member's Jane McCluskey (Senior Public Safety Specialist) and Christine Emerton (Vice President, Product Development) participated in Boston's 12th Annual Run to Remember Half-Marathon!
Produced by the Boston Police Department and Boston Police Runner's Club, the race honors all first responders killed in the line of duty. All proceeds from the race benefit the families of first responders.
When asked why it was important to run a race benefiting the first responder community and how it felt to run with another member of the Jones & Bartlett Learning Public Safety Group, Emerton responded:
"All of us at JBL do such great work to support the public safety community, but the Run to Remember is a way to publicly show support for the amazingly brave men and women in law enforcement, fire, and EMS. As devastating as it is to think about first responders losing their lives in the line of duty, it gives me some measure of comfort to help their families and acknowledge their sacrifice. My husband is a paramedic/fire fighter, so I start every day with: “Please be careful.” I know what it feels like to hope that your loved one is safe in the field. Running with my long-time colleague, Jane McCluskey, was especially meaningful. As we covered each mile, we took time to thank the many first responders who lined the route and joined us on the run."
We are beyond proud of Jane McCluskey and Christine Emerton for their hard work and dedication to the public safety community!
